Sticks And Stones

On Tuesday Brad and I set out for an exciting ghost town adventure. We had the GPS coordinates, but couldn't seem to find the town. Instead we were lead to a giant mine. One of the largest open pit mines in the world I think. We decided to explore there.

I, of course ended up leaving with my pockets full of little treasures.
I couldn't help but leave with such beauties.

You see.. I am a collector.

I collect a lot of things..
mostly little rocks, pebbles, feathers, bottles, and crystals, fabric...
The list goes on.

As I was leaving I thought of some new designs involving my little collections.

I collect these things because I think they are beautiful
and somewhere in the back of my mind I think..
I will make something from this one day.

These next few weeks I will be working on a new line of jewelry.

I call it the Sticks And Stones Collection.

It includes:
raw crystals
feathers (cruelty free),
vintage lace and fabric,
vintage bottles,
vintage chains,
peacock copper,
drift wood,
wood slices reclaimed from fallen trees,
and small geodes.

All things that I have been collecting for many many years.
I have finally decided to do something with them.

I will keep you updated... but here is a sneak peek!
I'm very excited about all the new pieces.
It has a very natural and beautiful look.
It is not just stringing a pendant onto a chain...
so far it's involved hammering, sawing, and sanding.
It's been dirty but lots of fun. (My hands are still stained!)

I will launch this new collection on June 30th. (hopefully)

Stay tuned for sneak peeks, drawings, and pictures!

Feathers, Leather, and Pearls

Pearls have been an obsession of mine lately, and feathers always have. So, I decided to combine the two. I love the look of feathers and pearls together. It's a very natural, earthy look, mixed with a classy sophisticated look.

I am also wearing my newest homemade plugs. Mahogany hollowed out with amethyst chunks in the center. You can't see them too well in these pictures, but I adore them.
The other night Destinee and I had a creating party. We trashed the apartment with feathers, string, leather, and tools. Wicket kept sneaking feathers from my pile to chew on under the couch.. It was a fun and productive night.
I love feather earrings because they are lightweight. I can't wear anything heavy because of my stretched ears. Feathers are so lightweight I can just slip them under the plug and forget about them.

I will be adding all these earrings to the shop today. Most of them will not be duplicated or relisted.
I'm not sure how often I will be posting earrings.. I guess this is just a trial run.

Some of the earrings are very big and flashy, like the peacock ones. Some are very long with silver chain and traces of peacocks. And some are very simple with just leather, and feathers.
I can't decide which ones I like best.

I'm pretty excited about this new line of feather earrings. I will have them listed by tonight!

Oh, and here are some disclaimers.

I have replaced all the hooks on the earrings after taking photos. Any earrings you purchase will never have been worn.
The pearls are faux pearls, they are round beads with a pearly paint over them. The "leather" is a faux leather/suede microfiber cord. I always try to get my feathers cruelty free too! Talk2thetrees is a tree hugging company, which means I love my animal friends too!

I don't have much to say

It's true, I really don't have a whole lot to say lately.
This is going to be a lame post with little words and pictures of my face.
Mostly just headbands added to Talk2thetrees.
 And a Panda Hat.
I love pandas and I love this new hat.
I wear mine often and I feel like a little ol' bear.
All soft and warm and cozy with my little ears.
Yeah.. I'm nerdy, I know.
But I'm a nerdy ol' bear.

I'm hoping for a better post soon.
I'm hoping to have a better week.
I have tons of ideas... but no motivation.

Isn't that just awful?

Care To Join Me?

I'm going on a walk.
Would you like to come?
My best pal Mowgs is coming too..
I hope you don't mind.
He adores his walks.
You can bring your furry friend if you'd like.
I don't mind. The more the merrier.

We will walk on the main road until that gets a too little boring.
We will notice a little path.
The path will lead you and me to a darling old playground.

We will have to follow those instructions,
play time is never free you know.
Would you like to be the astronaut or the lion tamer?
I would prefer the lion tamer personally.
I'm terrified of space. Plus I've always had a way with animals.
But we could take turns if you'd like.
When we get to the merry-go-round I will tell you about a distant memory of mine.
It will go like this:

"I was little.. I think in Ohio, or maybe in Utah. Where I was it was hot outside. I remember spinning on one like this. It was wooden though. I got very dizzy. I must have fallen off because all I remember is the color red and lots of pain. I've always associated pain with the color red. I saw red that day and that's all I really remember. Red."

As we walk I will show you my new feather hair pieces that are now up in my little shop.
I have been excited about these all week!

Soon we will discover that we are lost.
Nothing looks familiar anymore.
How ever will we get back?
I will ask you if you've noticed random wooden crosses in random empty fields like I have.
I'm sure you've noticed it too.
We will try to find our way back.
Watching our step the whole way..
Stepping on a snake would ruin this walk for sure.
How could we have gotten lost?

Sometimes I guess that's just what happens
It's no reason to stop smiling and laughing.
No reason to get upset.
We won't panic.
We are just exploring for a bit.
Admiring the beauty of the world.
Little Mowgli will need a break every once in a while though.
He's just a little guy who gets tired easily.
I will even have to carry him after a while.

Soon we will make it home.
Hot, tired and hungry.
But thankful for the surprise adventure.

Cheesey lunches for all!

Sometimes it's okay to be a little lost.
It reminds us of just how small we really are
