The Little Things

I've been busy. So so busy.
Yesterday was my first teaching job.
I was terrified.
And, today I have another one.
I'm just as terrified.

I didn't get a chance to post on my blog yesterday!
(I never miss Mondays!)

This last weekend, I was able to spend a bit of time in my studio.
I've got 3 big paintings to show you.. but I haven't had time to photograph them.

I was able to photograph the little things!
After all, it's the little things that are important.

I've got two mini paintings to add to the shop!
These ones are going for $22.00.
It includes an easel too.
These are perfect and portable little paintings!
They look awesome on bookshelves, desks, and bedside tables.
I also do custom painting of these, for about the same price!

I also worked on 6 new necklaces...
These are not print necklaces, these are original paintings for your neck!
Each one was painted individually, and had a lot of thought put behind it.
They are darling. I even wore one teaching!

I tried to have them reflect my other paintings.
These necklaces are going for $26.00.
Pretty good right?

Happy Little Things

I was looking online for some new pendant settings when I came across the cutest website. Ornamentea.  I bookmarked it and had tons of item's urls sent to myself in an email. (I'm weird... I know) I was so excited about this little website. I scrolled to the bottom and noticed something weird... "visit our Raleigh store." I was beyond stoked. Their store is 15 minutes away from my house!
 So we went. Naturally
It was full of little odds and ends, beads and all sorts of wonderful trinkets. I stayed way longer than I planned to. I'm so fascinated with cute little things, like buttons and tiny boxes.
These pictures were pulled from their website. I was too shy to bring in my own camera.
I'm silly. When I find places I like I want souvenirs, little keepsakes to remind me of why I like it.
We are leaving my very favorite city soon and I have been collecting little things to remind me of it.
Why I like it here..
I want to come back!
So I bought myself a ring.
Seeing this ring made me oh so happy to be where I was, I couldn't pass up such a small memento to remind me of happiness. After all it was only 1.75.. why not?

I've been painting lately.
It doesn't seem right to knit when it is 80 degrees out.
At least not yet...

I'm not too sure how much I like Little Narwhal here...
I'm not much of a painter so until I am no longer scratching my head
wondering what is wrong with this guy he won't be in the shop.

But these are in the shop.

Oh, and one more thing....
It happened again and I was so very happy!

A Medical Phenomenon

This will leave doctors scratching their heads.

Sometimes I feel like my blood turns into mud,
then..
I feel like I'm going to explode.

It happens when:

I'm super stressed.
or
The paint won't mix right.
or
I have 5 more inches to sew and the bobbin keeps jamming.
 or
I'm nearly done knitting a hat and then I run out of yarn.

Sometime it happens when I want to finish a painting but I'm really tired, and I don't want to waste the paint I just poured.

It happens when I try to paint and there is unpleasant sounds or music going on.

The last one was yesterday's problem.
Taylor was on the computer watching skate videos that involved loud hardcore music.
It's very hard to paint pretty things while listening to that kind of music.
It's not his fault, but it was frustrating me.

Next thing I knew..
My blood was gone, there was just mud and dirt in my blood. I could feel tiny rocks as I moved my hand. The mud started pumping through my body but it was gritty and slow.
I could feel it getting backed up.
I felt like I was about to explode.

What a mess that would be, a bunch of mud.
All over my walls and my art work.

I was on the verge of explosion all night.
Eventually I was able to watch a movie while I painted.
That made the mud dissipate just enough for me to finish my paintings.
I was a bit of a selfish wreck, I'll admit.
But wouldn't you be if you felt like you were about to explode?

I know my blood wasn't really replaced with mud,
and the only explosion would have been a little yelling...
but it's still an awful feeling.

That night Taylor told me all the things he loved about me.
I felt all the mud disappear as I lay there in bed listening to him.

It's nice to know why someone loves you.
(especially when you think you are crazy.)

These three new mushroom paints are now in the shop as well as 3 new pendants.

I'm very glad I didn't explode.

Here it is...

Sorry for the confusion. Moving to Charlotte would be nice, we are actually going to be moving to.....

Arkansas.

Why the tears? Well I don't like Arkansas. We used to go there to visit family. It's not my family I don't like, or the people of Arkansas. I've just had some stinky memories there.
Twelve year old Rachael once vowed to never return.

We found out last night and I just kept saying, "No, you are joking me. No, No NOOOOO!"
Taylor's boss heard me over the phone.

I immediately called my mom. I told her through tears that we were going to move to Arkansas in a month. Both her and my dad started laughing.

Then my mom cheered me up.

It's time to replace those stinky memories with good ones.

Arkansas deserves another chance.
After all, it will only be for four months.

So I've been waiting all day to change the subject.
Waiting all day to share my newest creations.

Here they are.

Tiny paintings.
Framed for hanging,
not on a wall...
but around your neck!
