Holiday Orders

The holidays are coming up. And as you know I've been busy with orders. I wanted to take a quick minute to remind everyone, the hat shop closes December 17th for Christmas, and the art shop closes the following Friday. This will make sure that I get you the orders in time! And I don't freak out tooooo much. Like last night when a huge order was placed, and they wanted it overnighted. I am a magician, but I'm not that good.

Both shops will reopen on December 26th.
Though, the hat shop will only be open for a few more months after that.

Friday The 13th.. and I'm a Believer

I told you this 3 years ago, but if you don't want to time travel through the archives of the blog, I'll repost a bit....

One day I just decided to believe in just about everything. It makes the world seem a little bit more magical. Yes, I believe in big foot, aliens and ghosts. I believe in wishes, spells and spirits.  I am also a pretty superstitious person. I make wishes at 11:11 and get really excited when I see a head-side up penny. I throw spilled salt over my shoulder, and knock on wood.

Why you ask?

Well.. Why not?

Here are a few of my favorite superstitions.
  • An acorn should be carried to bring luck and ensure a long life.
  • To predict the sex of a baby: Suspend a wedding band held by a piece of thread or hair over the palm of the pregnant girl. If the ring swings in an oval or circular motion the baby will be a girl. If the ring swings in a straight line the baby will be a boy.
  • It's bad luck to put a hat on a bed.
  • The sound of bells drives away demons because they're afraid of the loud noise.
  • When a bell rings, a new angel has received his wings.
  • A loaf of bread should never be turned upside down after a slice has been cut from it.
  • Never take a broom along when you move. Throw it out and buy a new one.
  • Three butterflies together mean good luck.
  • A broken mirror is seven years bad luck.

  • Evil spirits can't harm you when you stand inside a circle.
  • It's bad luck to pick up a coin if it's tails side up. Good luck comes if it's heads up.
  • If an eyelash falls out, put it on the back of the hand, make a wish and throw it over your shoulder. If it flies off the hand the wish will be granted.
  • Stabbing your needles though your yarn balls brings bad luck to anyone who wears something made from that yarn. (I never do this!!)
  • It is bad luck to walk under a ladder.
  • Put salt on the doorstep of a new house and no evil can enter.
  • Bad luck will follow the spilling of salt unless a pinch is thrown over the left shoulder into the face of the devil waiting there.
  • It's bad luck to open an umbrella inside the house, especially if you put it over your head.
  • Knock three times on wood after mentioning good fortune so evil spirits won't ruin it.
  • If you tell someone your wish, it won't come true.
  • If you catch a falling leaf on the first day of autumn you will not catch a cold all winter.
  • If a black cat walks towards you, it brings good fortune, but if it walks away, it takes the good luck with it.

Interesting stuff huh? Last year I broke a mirror, annnnd to avoid the 7 years bad luck, I buried it in the backyard under a full moon. No bad luck here!

I also took in a (mostly) black cat. Even though I don't like cats at all.. but Anubis has been the best cat I've ever had. He's so silly and sweet. But he doesn't want you to know it.

He secretly follows me around the house.. like I'll go into the bedroom and he'll slowly go in, like he forgot something there.  Then I'll go into the kitchen and slowly he'll appear looking around the walls like he's casually seeing what's for lunch. If I'm sitting on the couch he will be where he can see me, and just watch. If I get up, he'll slowly come follow but act like it's no big deal and he was planning on going and laying in the hall way while I check my outfits. His walk has straightened out on his own, so we didn't have to take him in for surgery. And he is all better. The luckiest black cat ever.

But, I love Friday the 13th just because of the idea of it. The same reason I love Halloween. I love all things dark, and spooky. That's why my house is always decorated for Halloween, and I own 7 life size human skulls. I'm looking to get my animal skull collection going, if you have anything to add.. let me know!

It's been a bit slow around here, so I've decided to run a Friday 13 sale in my shops!
This weekend only, I'll be offering 13% off,
plus your package will be full of Spooky Surprises.
I'm not going to say exactly what those will be,
but I'm pretty darn excited. You should be too.

A Few Announcements

Happy Friday! Aren't you glad it's Friday?
I am!

I've got some exciting news!
Two things actually.

First,
Sterling and I were talking late one night..
We were discussing how we would like to influence the world with our own beliefs.
I've had a lot of emails lately about my way of life and the things I do.
I feel a lot of people I know, both in person, and through the internet are waking up
and discovering new ways of life.

It's all been happening nearly around the same time.
People have changed.
Life styles have change.
Vibrations have changed.

I've felt it, and I'm sure lots of people have.
I'm sure you have too.

Sterling and I were discussing how we can help let others
who are feeling this change.
Change can be a scary thing, and feeling left alone, in the dark can be terrifying.

Sterling and I have decided to open up an online shop together.

We plan to market new age and old ritual products for the awakened soul.

Sterling and I have known each other in person for a little over a year now.
We have been working together for eternities,
and in this life we have come up with our first  business plan.

Our goal is to bridge the gap from our ancient civilizations to modern society,
in hopes of realization that we are still one.

We are still in the brainstorming stage of our business development,
but we are taking baby steps..
We've already picked a name, and next is building the website.

We plan to offer:
Tarot readings via Skype (with an email/PDF recap after)
Crystals,
Herbal Blends and Teas,
Candles (Both handmade and blessed!)
Carved Talismans
Gratitude Rocks
Jewelry
Wishing/Voodoo Dolls
Sage Smudge Sticks
Eventually ritual and ceremonial packs
Ritual Antique Items

Sterling and I have started writing a book together, and we have been thinking about what more we could do that would fulfill our lives and purpose here on this Earth. We are very excited to get started!

And now for my other bit of news!

Talk2thetrees is back!
For a limited time, with a limited amount of hats that is..
(If you don't see the hat you want, let me know and I'll work something out with you!)

I've been getting a lot of emails lately about opening the shop back up.
I figured while I'm between book illustrations and projects I might find time to knit and crochet again
So, the shop will be up until further notice...
And don't worry, I'll give you plenty of notice before I need to close it down again.

So get em while you can...
and have a wonderful weekend.
I know I will...
It will be full of knitting, planning, designing, creating, and loving and enjoying the life.
