Beauty Box 5 September Review

I'm squeezing this review in the last day of the month! But forgive me... it's been a crazy month for me! I have lots of exciting news, but I'll wait until another post to share that.

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription-based beauty sampling service. They deliver a box to your door of 5 samples and full size products. You get a mixture of makeup, beauty, hair and nail care products. It's a lot of fun to recieve a box of make up each month!
Cost: $12 Month, $30 for a quarterly plan, or $99 for a year.

Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon (Gold)
$4.49
This is a little eye crayon. The color is very rich, but it's a bit oily. I tried to use this as an eye shadow but it eventually gathered in the creases of my eye lids. I figured it would, so I wasn't too upset. I really like the color, and I use it as an eye liner. It is really sparkly and as an eyeliner it lasts a pretty long time. I wouldn't use it as an eye shadow again.

Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner & Co-Wash
Samples
I'm always happy to recieve deep conditioners each month... it's keeping my bleached hair on the healthier side. This month it's two small samples of leave in conditioner. I read the back label and wasn't too excited about some of the chemicals in there.. So I may not be using these too much.

Sally Hansen Toe Spacers
$1.99
My Beauty Spot Nail Polish
$4.00

This item is something I'm not totally wild about.. I absolutely hate things between my toes, so I may not use the toe spacers very often at all. I loved the color of the nail polish though, but found it's not too long lasting.

Revlon Bold Laquer Mascara
$7
This is the same one I got last month, so I'm not too excited about it. It will be good to have on hand in case I run out.

This month's box was a tad bit disappointing as many of the items felt like fillers that were thrown in, rather than actual items or new samples. But I can't complain too much because these are still useful items and good to have around the house.

Does any one else have a subscription with Beauty Box  5? What did you think of this month's box? Each box is a bit different so I'm interested to know what you thought of yours!

Beauty Box 5 August Review - Radiant and Remarkable

I'm excited to say that I'm an official Beauty Box 5 Blogger.
This means I'll be reviewing a box each month.
I don't like to pack my posts full of product reviews, like how last week I had 2.. but I really do enjoy the Beauty Box 5 each month. It's like a present each month. You don't really know what will be in it so opening it is like opening a gift. It's really fun.

The cost for Beauty Box: $12/month or $10/month for 3 month if paid up front. You can even get a full year at 8.25/month if you pay up front. Use the code HALFCOFF to get %50 off your first box.

They send a variety of products and brand from drugstore, to luxury, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Each box gets mailed out at the 8th of the month.

This month's theme is Radiant and Remarkable. The days of summer are coming to an end, but that summer glow everyone loves doesn't have to end.

Purlisse Pur- Protect SPF 30
Retail: $55.00 for full size

Another great moisturizer. I love when face moisturizers have spf in them. My mom taught me well to always wear sunscreen, especially on my face, so it's pretty important to me. I've never been a fan of tanned skin, so something that moisturizes and protects my skin is always in my house.

Novex Brazillian Keratin
Retail: $19.50 for full size

I always need hair food. With how much I bleach my hair, and add color, then bleach the roots.. I'm always happy to put some vitamins and nourishment into my hair. I'm almost contemplating letting my roots grow out and having my natural brown hair again for a while! I haven't used this yet, because it needs to sit in my hair for 25 minutes. So, if it works wonders, I may continue to bleach my hair and use this stuff to put the keratin back into it!
La Fresh Travel Lite - Facial Cleansing Wipes
Retail: 19.99 full size

I have a confession.. sometimes I don't always wash the eyeliner and mascara off my face. I wash my face every night, but I don't like the idea of rubbing my eyes with scratchy toilet paper. And I don't always like the idea of wasting wipe after wipe. So I usually just skip it. I know it's bad for me.. after trying these face wipes I noticed the wipes weren't scratchy like I thought they would be. But I didn't like throwing away a wipe that isn't totally dirty. So here is another confession.. I've been cutting them in half and using them until they are totally used up. I like having my eyes clean when I wake up. I like when I go to put on my make up the next day and I don't have to battle old make up. Plus it's probably better for my face in the long run.

Style Essentials Nail Polish
Retail: $7 for set

I'm not a huge nail polish wearer. I would love to be one, but here is the thing. My fingers are always covered in paint and ink.. The pain sticks very well to the nail polish too. Also, when I erase the page and sweep away the residue sometimes the nail polish leaves streaks! Mostly because I'm not careful. So, I'm not a huge nail polish wearer. I tried this out to see what it was like. I put two coats on as it was pretty sheer. I actually like that green color. It's chipped off a bit because I use my hands so much.

Nanacoco Lip Gloss
Retail: $3.99

Guys, this stuff is bright. The color you see is the color you get. My pet's cheeks were stained a bit cause I forgot I had it on. It's super colorful and bright, leaves my lips shiny but not sticky.

See? Bright stuff. Radiant indeed.

Evenly Glowing: Product Review

So I've got another quick product review today, but this one starts with a story. Most of you know I was married once, now I'm not. I've been divorced much longer than I was married but some painful memories stick around longer than you'd like. When I was with my ex he once told me he wanted to "play a game." He asked me what are some things I would change about him. Being 20 years old wanting to be in love and married forever I told him not a thing. I loved him just how he was. For his turn, he plainly told me he wished I had longer hair, my legs were too fat, and the pores on my face were too big.
Never agree to play this "game" with anyone.. cause that painful statement still hurts. For years I was a bit obsessed that my pores were too big. I knew I could grow my hair out if I wanted, I knew I could work out and trim my legs if it came to that.. if he really needed me to change... but my pores?! I was at a loss.
The marriage didn't last too long, and I'm thankful for that because of the emotional abuse didn't stop at the comment on my pores...
I soon started the process of healing, and accepting myself. Like I mentioned, it's been years. Sometimes, not often I still look at my face with fear that my pores are too big. I don't let the fear consume me because then I would ONLY notice that.

Okay so now kind of forget about that story for just a second...
We can fast forward to the present, where I'm no longer with my ex, and that if Sterling read that story he would likely hunt him down. Ah yes the present where I'm with someone who has never said anything to hurt me purposefully.  Oh wait, this is a product review, not a love story.. back to the point.

I received this Even Glow Serum to try out and share with my readers. Not trying to do anything but moisturize my face, get rid of some scares maybe and have fresh feeling skin. So I started using it in the morning paired with Tuesday's review which I use at night. I've been putting this on each morning after my shower.. and I guess this review is kind of a love story because oh my goodness. I love this stuff.

First of all, the smell. So good. Kind of reminds me of that one ride at California Adventure.. you know the one.. Ah Soarin Over California. Where a soft breeze of citrus creeps into your nose as you fly over the orange fileds and you suddenly can't feel that your feet have hurt all day from standing in line. That's what this stuff smells like. Don't taste it though. Just trust me.
It absorbs super fast into my skin with no greasy feeling. Paired with the other stuff I've been using I've noticed a difference in my complexion, skin tone and even noticed scars fading sooner. I think the biggest reason I like it though, is it seems to have helped shrink my pores a bit.

Like most girls, I check the mirror when I wash my hands after using the bathroom, and just a little while ago I looked in the mirror and noticed something slightly different, my pores weren't super noticeable since I started using this Even Glow Serum.

I'm not entirely sure that "pore shrinking" is one of the advertised intents, but I think the increase in collagen and Vitamin C helped any imbalances that I had.

With natural ingredients like Vitamin C, Sea Buchthorn Oil, Rosehip Seel Oil, and Green Tea I feel pretty good about putting it on my skin.

It promises to even skin tone, reduce signs of aging and give you a nice glow, as well as keep your skin hydrated all day. I must say it's done all these things for me.
Plus the price right now on Amazon is not crazy expensive like similar products.

So whether or not you are trying to shrink your pores/even skin tone, moisturize, reduce wrinkles, or pretend you are on Soarin Over California for a moment, I really recommend this stuff.

Product Review: Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex

I've got a quick little product review today, and most likely another one tomorrow! My skin has been very happy with all these products I've got to try. I went to the dermatologist a little while ago because I've struggled with break outs. My doctor prescribed me some face wash that works, but it smells like chemicals, and leaves my face a little bit tight feeling. I've used coconut oil before as a moisturizer, but it leaves me a little bit too oily. So, I've been on a search for moisturizers that put nutrients back into my skin... something gentle and non greasy.

I received a small sample of Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex and so far I'm loving it.

I have a little sample pack and have enjoyed using it. It's really made my skin feel better after washing it at night. It wasn't oily at all and I noticed my skin's texture and appearance has improved. I don't like using harsh chemicals on my face, so something with restorative properties has been helpful. I didn't notice any of the anti-aging benefits because I don't have wrinkles just yet... but I'm hoping preventive measures like this will help in the long run. But then, I'm not even sure if wrinkles are that much of a problem to me... I think wrinkles are beautiful. So even if this doesn't help anti-aging... I'm just happy it moisturizes my skin at night. I wake up with glowing skin, moisturized and fresh. I couldn't ask for a better feeling.
Tomorrow I'll be doing another product review of what I use in the mornings

Magical Mixtures and a Chance to Win One!

I've been all sorts of spacey today! I had some crazy dreams last night and can't seem to shake them! Does that ever happen to you? Anyways I've been meaning to do a blog post for a little while! I've just been busy and scattered lately.. Especially today. Like I mentioned, I woke from a crazy dream and am still feeling the effects. I saged my house, and myself. I showered, did yoga, and meditated to try to shake this energy off.. The dream left me feeling scared, vulnerable and panicky. I needed to be calm centered and relaxed. I'm a pretty big fan of herbs and oils as treatment, especially when it comes to feeling calm and protected. When I finally realized what I was needing, I heard the call coming from my bedroom, where I keep a jar of Vega from Gypsy Moth Sol . I smoothed the golden lotion into my hands and breathed in the smell. I felt a bit calmer. This lotion is infused with Labradorite energy, one of my very favorite stones.. this lotion is protective, calming, and grounding. Also, I protect it like the gold that it is. (It has a gold shimmer to it!)

This post wasn't meant to even be a giveaway, but after talking to Katelyn about wanting to feature her lotions on Talk2thetrees she offered to giveaway one of my favorite lotions! Vega has been a favorite of mine since the moment it came in the mail. Every single one of her items is amazing, and you can feel the magic power that comes from her packages.

Sterling saw Elemental Body Scrub in the bathroom and asked about it. He asked where I got it, and mentioned that he feels that jar's energy in the house. Every time he passed it, he asked "Have you mentioned this stuff on your blog yet? I feel you need to..." It's a body scrub with the elements in mind to keep you balanced and help you scrub off the old to welcome the new. Gypsy Moth Sol's mixtures are so magical, it has Sterling asking me to share it with you guys...

Another of my favorites is this. It's Coffee Butt Butter, and it's pretty amazing. I told Sterling not to touch that one. That one is mine. But, he already knows.. not to get in the way of me and my coffee. She's currently sold out of this one, but I think she may be accepting preorders.

I currently have jars placed strategically around my house. Like little potions if I ever need to alter my reality just a bit, nourish my skin, and nourish my soul... this is the stuff.
I wasn't paid to make this post, and when she sent these she wasn't expecting a review, but I just can't help it. This stuff is amazing, and I wanted to share that with you all!

Plus, she is having a sale on her herbal tinctures!  So go grab some! They've been made with clear intentions, in a cleansed and crystal charged environment.. and they are currently super cheap. So, go grab some!
But also save some for me...

Katelyn and I have been friends for a little while now, we met via Etsy I think.. it's been fun staying connected to others and watching them grow. I've watched with excitement as Katelyn has grown into this magical witchy goddess woman and I can't wait until the day we meet in person. (I'm sure it will happen!) She has an energy and authenticity about her, you can tell she is trying to live her Dharma.. and there is nothing more beautiful than that!
She is also an amazing photographer and creates the most hauntingly beautiful images.

Enter to win a jar of the lovely Vega lotion. Be sure to check out her art prints, and her magic shop. I promise you won't regret it.
