A Work In Progress

This move has taken so much longer than I expected.. as most things tend to do. I've been in this house for a whole week, and there is still so much to do! The physical act of moving took so long and was so exhausting. With two cars we took about 6-7 trips. It was about an hour drive each way... Most of the day was spent driving and lifting and I'm so glad it's over. Yesterday I counted 45 bruises just on my legs! Mo
Even the pups were tired. On the first night staying here we were woken up with the reason our rent was such a good deal...
This monster resides directly under our floors and bed. It sounds much like a crashing train, or a plummeting elevator. It starts off as a really low and loud groaning noise and then suddenly a huge thump and crash shakes the house. It then repeats itself 5 times about every other hour. The first few times it was down right terrifying. The dogs freaked out, and so did I. It sounded like someone was crashing into the apartment! A maintenance man let me down there to take a look and now that I know it's not broken, and it's not going to make my floors cave in, I'm much better with the sound and it no longer wakes anyone up. It does sound like a crashing elevator, so we refer to it as The Elevator To Hell. Because that's what it sounds like. I'll try to get video of it. It is intense.

We've also run into some problems with the ceilings. 10 foot ceilings seem cool and all until you need to hang stuff from them! I bought myself a little step stool but even with that I still can't reach some of the stuff on the top shelves!

Tonight we will be clearing and cleansing the house and I'll be taking real photographs of the place.

I'm totally in love with this space, and all the quirks it has.

  1. The apartment looks beautiful of what I've seen so far! Those sheets turned into curtains look really nice too, I would have never thought of doing something like that. Now the fun part begins with decorating! Can't wait to see more photos!

  2. Loving the look of your new place! I'm surprised that they didn't warn you about the noisiness under your room. It seems like they should have said something. Yikes!! I'm such a light sleeper that I probably wouldn't be able to sleep. Glad you are used to it already tho! That's good! Can't wait for more pictures!
