My Wickey

This little guy has a special place in my heart.
He's a big sweetie.
He's very sensitive, and often has anxiety, but it's nothing some love won't fix.

I'm just in love with this little guy.
I can't help but miss him when I'm gone.
I love waking up to him snuggling in my arms.
And I love the way his tail waggles when he sees me.
Sometimes when he lays down, he waves his tail in front of his face like a little fan.
Sometimes when he sees me, he gets so extremely excited, he leaks just a bit.

But, I can't help it.
I'm in love.

Wicket is an extremely fast learner. In his entire time with me, he's made maybe 4 potty mistakes. He's picked up on tricks really well too!
Here is his newest trick..
Straight from my phone.

Thursday Threads - The Part Of A Teacher

Due to a complication with my contacts,
and the fact that my last one tore right in half while it was still in my eye,
I've been wearing my glasses lately.

I  just got these new ones, and I'm delighted to inform you,
that I can see quite well in them.
They are a new pair, so the prescription is brand new too.
When I first started wearing them, the new perfect vision almost made me sick to my stomach.
It was quite hard to get used to.
But now I actually look the part of someone who should be grading papers,
teaching color theory and showing kids how to draw straight lines.

Life is good.

Sneak Peak

I may have seemed a bit distant lately,
And, I kind of have been!
I've been working real real hard,
and getting lots of little projects started.
Talk2thetrees is teaming up with someone really great!
And I can't wait to announce some special news and photos.
It's been fun, and it's going to be really awesome!
Here are some sneak peak shots of the photoshoot yesterday.
Looks like I need to find some time to clean my poor computer huh?!

To Be Bold

"Go at it boldly, and you'll find unexpected forces closing round you and coming to your aid."

Also known as

"Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid."
-Basil King

For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, you probably remember the shy me.
I used to have a very hard time being bold. I used to be afraid to shine. I used to be quite the hermit, afraid of nearly everything and everyone. Life was hard for me. I had a hard time talking to people. I had a hard time leaving the house. I had a hard time with life. I was depressed, and had terrible anxiety. And one day, I woke up and realized, I didn't need to live like that. I didn't need to stay unhappy.. I realized I had more worth than to stay at home, hidden.

I had an awakening.

I truly believe everyone has an awakening moment like that at some point in their lives.
Sometimes a few awakening moments.

It was like one day, I woke up and realized,
"I am wasting myself. I am wasting my shine."

And since then,
I've been as bold as possible.

It was a bit of hard work, at first,
a lot of uncomfortable moments,
a lot of uncertainty,
but I've been incredibly happy ever since.

When I meet new people, I give them my all.
When I start something new, I give it my all.
I am authentic and real.
I believe in magic and truth, and I believe is with all of my being.
I believe in being honest, and open.
Even if means looking like a fool.
I believe in following my heart,
and trusting my instincts.
 I go about things boldly.

Because if you can't be bold, then why be anything?

My Tips to Living a Bold Life

  • Live in Possibility, not Fear. When we live in fear, we dwell and have anxiety. When we live in possibility we are curious, and excited, in a state of wonder. Change your fear and anxiety into excitement and curiosity.
  • Know yourself, find yourself. You are great. Realize this, and share it with others.
  • Let go of the things that are not directly affecting you.
  • Stay in the Here and Now. Dwelling too far in the past causes depression, thinking too far in the future causes anxiety. Find a good balance and stay there.
  • Enjoy the little things.
  • Don't make life harder than it needs to be. Not every little problem needs to be dealt with at that exact moment, and sometimes they just can be tossed away.
  • Get excited. About the big things, and the little things. Take a drive through the canyons and marvel at the pretty trees, the happy butterflies, and the whispering river. Be excited about the wind, and the squirrels.
  • Let life be good. We determine how well our day will go. We decide if it's a good day or a bad day. Let it be good.
  • Count your blessings. This will help you see more of them, and it plays into the Get Excited part.
  • Smile Smile Smile This makes you happy, and those around will feel it.
  • Make people remember you. Bring that excited and authentic energy with you when you meet people. Smile and shine. Walk with your chin up, and shoulders back. Be unforgettable.
  • Be Authentic. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who is real. Speak the truth, follow your instincts. Follow your heart. Be yourself, for yourself.
  • Help Others. There is such thing as Selfless-Selfishness. This means, the act of being selfless will make you feel good. Making someone happy will make YOU happy. Helping someone will help you.

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste and experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

To Listen

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”
― Ram Dass

Exploring the beauty of nature is a favorite of mine.
Sitting in serenity, listening to the trees, the wind and the birds.
Dipping my toes in the cool water.
Walking barefoot.
Connecting with the Earth
A sacred work of art.

We are so lucky to be here.

Be Daring

Late last night I decided to make a quick status update to facebook.
The first thing that came to my mind.

We are who we choose to be.
Sometimes you have to be a bit daring.

These words just flowed out..
because it's true.
Sometimes it takes bravery to be yourself
To find yourself.

We are so pressured to be like everyone else, to fit in, to be perfect,
 we loose our true selves.
And sometimes, it takes actual courage to be different.
It takes courage to say, "I love myself."
It takes bravery to remove the masks and walls we put up, and say,
"This is me."

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." -- Steve Jobs

We don't take much from this world when we leave,
and all we leave is who we were.
A story.
And we all know, the best stories are the originals.

Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others
to make your path for you. It is your road, and
yours alone. Others may walk it with you,
but no one can walk it for you.

Being yourself is a very enlightening experience.
You become independent, and less needy.
You give more, without expectation for anything in return.
You become happy.
To find yourself, is to think for yourself.
When it's put that way, we realize how much other people's thoughts control our thoughts.
How much their views on us dictate our lives.
When we are controlled, we are not free.
When we are not free we are not happy.

There is nothing happier than just being yourself.
Creating yourself.
Thinking for yourself.
Standing up for yourself.
Loving yourself.

You know yourself better than anyone else in this world.
This means, that no one will be as sorry as you if you give yourself up.
