The Moon

Last nights moon taken with my phone.

I love the moon.
The moon is more than just a round thing in the sky.
The moon has cycles, like many things in nature.
Learning from these natural cycles can help us understand the cycles of our own.
Not just menstrual cycles, though that has a lot to do with the moon too.
I mean cycles of our lives.
Cycles of our feelings and emotions.
Cycles of growth.

The moon orbits one full turn around the Earth in 28 days.
As it does this, it passes through each of the Zodiac signs for about 2-2 1/2 days.

The moon on any day has an effect on us, our emotions and feelings.
Because as the moon passes through each Zodiac sign,
it reflects to each of us, like a subtle hum or a soft under current of moods and thoughts.
Like the mystery of the lunar pull, it's difficult to understand and it can't be seen.
It's like a background noise that influences our days, and feelings.

And it's a bit different to each of us based on our own Zodiac Sign and power numbers.
I use this handy Moon Calendar to help keep track of days, moon cycles and the Zodiac Sign of the moon.

We are lucky to have a Blue Moon this month.

According to modern folklore, a Blue Moon is the second full moon of a calendar month.
So, this month in August we will have two full moons.

  1. I've always loved the moon. My first moon flower ever bloomed under this moon's first full moon! I was so excited! I took a picture of it and posted it to my blog: http://elleinawell.blogspot.com/2012/08/tiny-moon.html

  2. I love the idea that almost everyone and everything that has ever lived and will live will see the moon we see.
