The Power Of Words

Words have such power in our lives. Laughing is the purest verb, as it can change the course of a day. Faith is the most powerful noun, as it can change the course of a journey. And beauty, the greatest adjective that can change the course of your life. The sun rises and sets each day without fail. It rises with hope and beauty, and sets with the promise of a new day. We are synced with this rhythm, as we rise with hope, and set with promise each day.
Whether within our own thoughts, spoken or written, words have the power to transform the world we live in.
I often use words in my art.
Small quotes, advice, anything that speaks to me.

This painting is full of words.
Words make up the tree,
and words make up the heart hanging from it's branches.
At the very top, I've written one of my favorite quotes,
"Live by the sun, Love by the moon."

The words of others influence me.
Just the other day, I overheard a stranger's comment,
while I was trying on a coat,
"That coat looks like it was made for that girl"
convinced me to buy this jacket.
And tomorrow,
My comforting words will sooth my little fuzzy baby
as he goes into and comes out of surgery.
My words will be soft and sweet to him as he heals and rests.
And today, I hope to use my words to lift another.
To comfort someone in need.
To make someone laugh.
To build someone up.

Let us never underestimate the power of words.

“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics;
and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived . . this is to have succeeded.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. I love words. I love their meaning, I love poetry, I love a good quote. When complimenting someone, I often try and use a word that isn't used as often. Instead of beautiful, I may say dashing. Instead of amazing, I may say splendid.

I also have a few quotes that I truly live by. ♥

  3. Beautiful! I absolute love this piece, and I think it may be a new favorite.

I'm also sending good thoughts and well wishes for Wicket's surgery. My pup Max actually had oral surgery for his infected tooth a few weeks ago. The infection was eating away at his jaw bone, so I know what you're going through. He's back to his happy, bouncy self!

I know your pup will do well, and he'll get come great chompers out of it :) Good luck!

  4. Beautiful words. And beautiful art. Or should that be "splendid words" and "dashing art". Love the quote. Found you via Artful Blogging, and you're now marked as a favorite. :)

  5. On monday I was at my tailoring course and we have some "comunication" lessons.
We spoke a lot about the words...
Since I was very young I was used to copy every phrase or word I saw on sheets... so I learned to write very soon.
Words are what makes us human... I'm in love with the balance and the law of the Animal world... but when I stop, and think about the words, I can't think that the human mind is something miraculous and inconceivable...
    The words are magical...
Just think about the sound of the same word spoken with 2 different tones.
The same word can make you laugh.
The same word can make you mourn.
I'm thinking about learning a foreign language, as self-taught. It's unbelievable how can change you a thing like that.
    It's like opening a gate...
Now I can feel the thin difference between a poem in the original language and the translated version. The poem is the same, but not every word, not every "taste", not every shade can be translated...
Great post Rachael... Really. It makes me think... and I love thinking even someone says it's unhealthy!

A lot of times I feel myself a little bit down. It's my nature and now I accept it... and several times, in this last month, your words have lifted me, moved me, made me laugh...
    Thank you :)

A big big big hug and a lot of positive thoughts (we can call them prayers) to your little furry babe! ♥

    PS:
My favorite quote... I think is meaningful:
“If a man isn't willing to take some risk for his opinions, either his opinions are no good or he's no good” - Ezra Pound -

    Love, Chiara
