Happiness is a journey

Happiness is now.. where you are, in this very moment.

Doing what you are doing, thinking what you are thinking...
without worrying about the outcome.

We are raised and conditioned to believe that life will be better after we complete certain things.
After we finish college, after we get married, after we get that dream job, we will be happy.
We tell ourselves, "this will be good for us, this will make me feel accomplished, this will make me happy."

Living in the moment isn't waiting until you are married, having kids, or working your prized career... Because life comes in steps.
After you have that career, won't you be telling yourself you will be happy
once you get that promotion?

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when when we get a nicer car,
are able to go on a fancy vacation, or even get out of debt.

But the truth is,
there is no better time to be happy than right now.
Our lives will always be filled with challenges and changes.

So if not right now.. then when?
Life won't begin to begin.
Life is happening right now.

There will always be obstacles, and challenges in our way.
But it's time to learn to embrace them,
move on, and just..
be.

There is no way to happiness.

Happiness is the experience of living fully, and in this moment.
Especially in exploring all that this moment has to offer.

Happiness is a journey - not a destination.
Each journey starts with a single step .. and continues one step at a time .

  1. Oh my goodness, Rachael...you hit the nail right on the head! I couldn't have said it better myself. I think a lot of people get caught up in the what if's and don't think about the present. And by the time they realized they spent their whole lives worrying, debating, procrastinating...their life is just about over and they forgot to live! I hope I don't live my life like that and let myself live more in the moment. This was such a beautiful post. And I adore your painting! You are so talented :)
