Thursday Threads - Favorite Things

I've been a bit under the weather these last few days. I spent nearly 12 hours in bed. Totally not like me. I'm honestly going to chalk my lack of energy to the Mars Retrograde. I'm an Aries, and Mars is my ruling planet.. meaning that I'm pretty inline with it. When Mars is retrograde, so am I. Mars actually goes retrograde for quite a while. A few moths actually. Not the quick trip like Mercury's retrograde. But, luckily the Mars retrograde happens every couple of years. Thinking back on it, I can actually remember a time a few years ago when I was this lethargic, lacking energy and even depressed. I know a retrograde period should be about relaxing, slowing down, and re-evaluating life, but I just can't do it! I enjoy constantly being on the go, I enjoy my nonstop energy. I can't wait for this retrograde to be over. I am counting down the days until May 19th. 

Anyways, today I was woken up by a knock on the door. The Google Fiber guys needed to get into my back yard where a hub was stationed for cable and internet. I answered the door in my pjs and bed head. I told him it was fine to get into my back yard, and I went back to bed. A few hours later another knock came to the door. Same guy, same question. I told him it was totally fine, do whatever he needed. Then I went back to bed. Around 12 pm, another knock came to the door. Same guy! I think at this point he was checking up on me seeing if this weird girl was still in her pjs. Indeed I was. I told him once more, move the gate, do what he needed. That's when I decided to get up, do my hair and put on real clothes. I'm not sure why it was so hard today.. Maybe it's this retrograde, or me being a bit sick.. But I'm glad I have the google fiber guy watching out for me. 

Our weather has been a roller coaster lately. Yesterday it was raining like crazy. The day before it was scorching hot. Today it can't seem to decide if it wants to be hot or cold as it alternates between the two. Better than it being so hot it's melting my blinds.  

Today's outfit is a quick one. Black and white, skulls and lace. A few of my favorite things. 

Today is Sterling's weekend. He only works 4 days a week, so this means it's my weekend too. We are planning on getting some Thai Food, and having a small movie marathon at home while I try to rest and get better. I am also planning on doing some painting and working on my Tarot Deck. A few more of my favorite things. Here's to a relaxing weekend full of everyone's favorite things.

Good News Bad News

I woke up from a really bad dream to some really good news. Cinderskella has been Nominated for Best Cover at this website! I can't exactly tell you which one to vote for.. but you can guess which one my mother voted for...

So, that was the first bit of good news for my day. It certainly lifted my spirits from yesterday's post... but then as I put my phone down, I got a phone call from the computer store. 

With some bad news. 

My poor computer's hard drive went out! Gone. Dead. Corrupted. Broken. So sad.

He said they could replace the hard drive for me.. but the price is awfully high. Though not nearly as high as getting a new Mac Book. So, I agreed to do it. 

So, hopefully soon my old Mac Book will be back with a new hard drive. That's the good news.

The bad news is I've lost a lot of my files, music, photos, and programs. But the good news is, I was able to save some of my files onto a hard drive a month or so ago.

The biggest baddest news of all is the price to fix it.

But the good news to that, since there is a bright side to everything is I'm having a sale in both shops to help get my computer back, and possibly some of the programs I need. Like how I desperately need photoshop.

Any prints that are sold during this time, please expect a turn around time of about a week. I've got to figure out how to make the printer work without the driver, or the disk. 

Also, if anyone has any options for getting photoshop cheap, let me know. I was using a version my ex got me, so I no longer have any keys or disks. 


Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! It's getting very frustrating when these random universe financial disasters keep hitting... Being self employed is scary as it is... but then as soon as I get one month's finances figured out, something like this happens setting me back like a punch in the face.

Big Plans

Is anyone else excited for the new year? I know I am. I've got a list about a mile long of resolutions and things I want to improve about myself.. I'm sure I'll be sharing that soon.. Some times on it, are do more yoga, stop picking my lip, and watch all of Doctor Who from the very very beginning.
That's not all.
This year is going to be big.


A few things I'm looking forward to:
A big move in September. Don't know where... Don't know how... I'm trying to just have faith.
Illustrating another book. (The cover is due in like 2 weeks!  YIKES!)
Coming out with some new artwork. A new line in fact. Different that what I have.

Speaking of that... 

A lot of my current work will be taken down. For good.
Last summer I had a lot of the work shown at Timeless Image.
Sterling and I made a little slide show of us putting up the work.
Most of the work that you see here is what will be gone by the end of January.

 

A lot of the big pieces have been marked down by 50% off already.. and there is an additional 10% coupon with the code italk2trees. So you could get these paintings for really cheap. Cause I'm not trying to make money with these ones. Just trying to find them a good home.

A Lucky and Unlucky Day

Happy Friday the 13th! It's the second one this year, so it's technically a lucky day. But, I'm kind of having a bit of bad luck...
First off, I've had a migraine for a few days now.. I think I have a new allergy. Beans. And I'm very sad about this. Maybe it's just hummus... Maybe it's all beans. Maybe I should just eat fruit.

Also something is going on with my blog.. I'm unable to upload photos! And I had some good ones too. Today I was planning on posting yesterday's outfit, (one of my favorites too!) as well as my Friday the 13th post.. Announcing that today the last day the hat shop is open for a little while! A Magical Evening

I get it from my mom. Presentation is important. All the dishes must be in a nice dish. The table should be set fancy. The decor should match accordingly, and of course... candle light.

That's what makes it magical... A very valuable lesson.

Sterling and I cooked our Thanksgiving meal together this year. 

He took a time-lapse video, and we both took photos.This was our first ever Thanksgiving together, and it had to be perfect.

It totally was.

We sat down to eat, and sighed at the hard work we did all day, and at the beauty of it. 

The night before, I made the pies, the fruit salad, and the sauce. Just like my mom would have done. 

I also decided we needed a centerpiece. And from cheap things around the house and a few fake flowers from the craft store, I put together a fall themed centerpiece. (I'm really glad I worked at a flower shop last year!) 

We didn't have turkey. We had chicken.. and it was the best. I will share the recipe sometime soon. It was delicious. 

Even the dogs got a special Thanksgiving meal. I gave them Blue Buffalo Home-cooked Stew. With real carrots and potatoes. They loved it. 

And don't worry, the kitty got a special treat too. I just didn't get photos.. It was too dark!

We took lots of pictures of just about everything else... but here are my favorite ones. 

I hope to put Sterling's video up soon! 

And a few hours later we had pie. 
I made some mini pumpkin pies, and a special chocolate mousse pudding pie for Sterling. 

And we washed it all down with Which Chocolate Pumpkin Pie Hot Cocoa. 

I know it's time for me to write a post of all the things I'm thankful for, and why being thankful is important.. So, I invite you over to Lotus Tarot to read my post there.
