Beauty Box 5 September Review

I'm squeezing this review in the last day of the month! But forgive me... it's been a crazy month for me! I have lots of exciting news, but I'll wait until another post to share that.

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription-based beauty sampling service. They deliver a box to your door of 5 samples and full size products. You get a mixture of makeup, beauty, hair and nail care products. It's a lot of fun to recieve a box of make up each month!
Cost: $12 Month, $30 for a quarterly plan, or $99 for a year.

Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon (Gold)
$4.49
This is a little eye crayon. The color is very rich, but it's a bit oily. I tried to use this as an eye shadow but it eventually gathered in the creases of my eye lids. I figured it would, so I wasn't too upset. I really like the color, and I use it as an eye liner. It is really sparkly and as an eyeliner it lasts a pretty long time. I wouldn't use it as an eye shadow again.

Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner & Co-Wash
Samples
I'm always happy to recieve deep conditioners each month... it's keeping my bleached hair on the healthier side. This month it's two small samples of leave in conditioner. I read the back label and wasn't too excited about some of the chemicals in there.. So I may not be using these too much.

Sally Hansen Toe Spacers
$1.99
My Beauty Spot Nail Polish
$4.00

This item is something I'm not totally wild about.. I absolutely hate things between my toes, so I may not use the toe spacers very often at all. I loved the color of the nail polish though, but found it's not too long lasting.

Revlon Bold Laquer Mascara
$7
This is the same one I got last month, so I'm not too excited about it. It will be good to have on hand in case I run out.

This month's box was a tad bit disappointing as many of the items felt like fillers that were thrown in, rather than actual items or new samples. But I can't complain too much because these are still useful items and good to have around the house.

Does any one else have a subscription with Beauty Box  5? What did you think of this month's box? Each box is a bit different so I'm interested to know what you thought of yours!

Beauty Box 5 August Review - Radiant and Remarkable

I'm excited to say that I'm an official Beauty Box 5 Blogger.
This means I'll be reviewing a box each month.
I don't like to pack my posts full of product reviews, like how last week I had 2.. but I really do enjoy the Beauty Box 5 each month. It's like a present each month. You don't really know what will be in it so opening it is like opening a gift. It's really fun.

The cost for Beauty Box: $12/month or $10/month for 3 month if paid up front. You can even get a full year at 8.25/month if you pay up front. Use the code HALFCOFF to get %50 off your first box.

They send a variety of products and brand from drugstore, to luxury, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Each box gets mailed out at the 8th of the month.

This month's theme is Radiant and Remarkable. The days of summer are coming to an end, but that summer glow everyone loves doesn't have to end.

Purlisse Pur- Protect SPF 30
Retail: $55.00 for full size

Another great moisturizer. I love when face moisturizers have spf in them. My mom taught me well to always wear sunscreen, especially on my face, so it's pretty important to me. I've never been a fan of tanned skin, so something that moisturizes and protects my skin is always in my house.

Novex Brazillian Keratin
Retail: $19.50 for full size

I always need hair food. With how much I bleach my hair, and add color, then bleach the roots.. I'm always happy to put some vitamins and nourishment into my hair. I'm almost contemplating letting my roots grow out and having my natural brown hair again for a while! I haven't used this yet, because it needs to sit in my hair for 25 minutes. So, if it works wonders, I may continue to bleach my hair and use this stuff to put the keratin back into it!
La Fresh Travel Lite - Facial Cleansing Wipes
Retail: 19.99 full size

I have a confession.. sometimes I don't always wash the eyeliner and mascara off my face. I wash my face every night, but I don't like the idea of rubbing my eyes with scratchy toilet paper. And I don't always like the idea of wasting wipe after wipe. So I usually just skip it. I know it's bad for me.. after trying these face wipes I noticed the wipes weren't scratchy like I thought they would be. But I didn't like throwing away a wipe that isn't totally dirty. So here is another confession.. I've been cutting them in half and using them until they are totally used up. I like having my eyes clean when I wake up. I like when I go to put on my make up the next day and I don't have to battle old make up. Plus it's probably better for my face in the long run.

Style Essentials Nail Polish
Retail: $7 for set

I'm not a huge nail polish wearer. I would love to be one, but here is the thing. My fingers are always covered in paint and ink.. The pain sticks very well to the nail polish too. Also, when I erase the page and sweep away the residue sometimes the nail polish leaves streaks! Mostly because I'm not careful. So, I'm not a huge nail polish wearer. I tried this out to see what it was like. I put two coats on as it was pretty sheer. I actually like that green color. It's chipped off a bit because I use my hands so much.

Nanacoco Lip Gloss
Retail: $3.99

Guys, this stuff is bright. The color you see is the color you get. My pet's cheeks were stained a bit cause I forgot I had it on. It's super colorful and bright, leaves my lips shiny but not sticky.

See? Bright stuff. Radiant indeed.

Beauty Box 5 - Defining Moments

This is my first ever Beauty Box 5 and I was super excited to open it. Who doesn't love getting packages? Especially when the package is full of surprises you know you will love! Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription, with 5 cosmetic samples delivered right to your door. It's only $12 a month, or you could buy it yearly for a slightly discounted price. Inside each box is a variety of cosmetics that range from hair care, makeup, skin care, and nail care.

This month's Beauty Box is all about celebrating the events that make us the women we are today. Milestones and victories both big and small. This is something I've really been trying to focus on this past month, so having this beauty box came at a good time. It's good to recognize our accomplishments, and keep moving forward to another victory.

Hask Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment
This stuff is a godsend! You have seen my new bright magenta hair... before that it was blue, then purple, then pink, then blonde? My hair has been through a lot, and deserves some deep conditioning. Especially because it's about time to re-bleach my roots! My poor hair has been through a lot, and I'm excited to give it a little break. I've used this brand before and have always been happy with the results. It's actually been a lifesaver for me! I've had times where I thought I would have to shave my head because I damaged my hair so badly! After applying this and leaving it in for a long time, my hair was actually repaired!

Bath Aquatics H2O Shampoo
This shampoo is very gentle, which is just what my struggling magenta hair needs right now. It's made with Iceland Moss, Watercress and Provitamin B. It's formulated specifically for fine hair, and is gentle so it won't strip your hair of the natural oils, or dry it out. The Iceland Moss and Watercress help repair damage and replenish the moisture. Provitamin B helps strengthen the hair.
My hair is getting ready for it's spa night..

Body Drench Candy Licious Peppermint Stick
This chapstick is infused with beeswax, coconut oil and vitamin E to deliver pure moisture and hydration all day.

First off, I really don't like the smell of peppermint. I get the great medicinal properties of the essential oils and the herbs, but I just don't like it. I gave this a shot though, and fell in love. It was not overly minty, it didn't remind me of a winter, and it really does moisturize and stay on for a long time. I'm much more please than I thought I'd be.

NICKA K New York Nail Color
Obviously my nails look better in this photo than in the photo before this. This image is a little bit brighter than the color I got, which dried and set to a very deep deep red. My favorite color of nail polish. It glided on super smooth and lasted through my night of painting! I don't paint my nails when I'm about to paint a painting, because the paint gets all over my nail polish then the nail polish comes off when I wash my hands. Confusing statement, but finally this didn't happen. It could be the professional quality of my new paint, or the professional quality of this nail polish, either way, I'm impressed.

Okay, it's not that huge.
Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara
A Lacquered formula that delivers volume, definition and lifts lashes without smudging of flaking.

I love trying new mascaras. I also love the silly photos we get of me putting on mascara. Mouth open... eyes crossed. This mascara is pretty awesome. The one I have isn't waterproof, which is the only downside I could see... but hasn't been too much of an issue quite yet. I cry over basically everything incase you didn't know... puppies, sunsets, pretty flowers... So we will see how well this stuff holds up when I taste my next amazing meal that brings tears to my eyes.

My favorite things about the Beauty Box was opening it and the feeling of being surprised, and the wonderful theme. Remembering our milestones, both personal and femininity as a whole!

Reading the little note that came with the box really made me proud of my own milestones... as silly as they may seem to others, I'm proud of the things I've been able to accomplish.. even in one year!

In this one year, I went from working a day job full time, to working at home full time making more than I did at my old job! I am able to have my pink hair full time, and dress exactly how I want. (My teaching job wouldn't allow thigh high socks and pink hair...)
I've illustrated another book, and am working on illustrating my own Tarot Deck.
My one year mark is coming up soon, so I'm sure I'll blog on my year in review at a later time.

For now I think it's time to spoil myself and finally paint my toenails!
