Magical Yule

We had a very magical day on Saturday. Saturday was the Winter Solstice, and the day of Yule. We woke up to a fresh blanket of snow that day. I woke up earlier than Sterling and shoveled the driveway and the walkway. We've been keeping up on the shoveling this entire season, and it's been so much easier to shovel now then it could have been.

We headed out to run a few errands for the day. Sterling and I love to run errands together. It's always been a good "date" for us. We don't go to the movies together, we go to stores and post offices. Before we headed out for that, we stopped at a near by part to take photos of my fabulous sweatshirt dress. I'll be showing real, better photos when I feature this outfit, but these were fun pictures.
This was my reaction to Sterling telling me I looked like a wolf. Awesome compliment.

Sterling and I then headed to Barnes and Noble to see Cinderskella in stores, and on the shelves. The roads were icy, and it's the Saturday before Christmas, so there was a lot of traffic. We didn't mind because Sterling and I love every part of running errands together. Even the traffic.

We stopped to see the book, and the employees at Barnes and Noble had me sign all their copies! It was exciting to see the book on the shelves. Something that took almost a year of working on every day, is finally on the shelves.

If your Barnes and Noble doesn't have Cinderskella, keep asking them until they stock it! Once they get enough requests they will stock it at the store. One of the Employees told me that they even sold out of their first shipment of the book!
Even though it was snowing, we still got iced drinks from Starbucks. Whenever I get migraines, or my stomach feels upset, this is the best thing for it. And with soy milk, it's also the most delicious thing in the world. We ran our errands and stopped at the stores we needed to. I needed a new sketchbook from Michaels, and some board for painting from Home Depot, and then we stopped at the grocery store for ingredients for our Yule Feast.
We feasted by candlelight, and I turned on Classic Christmas music. Our Yule log was the centerpiece for the table.
After dinner we went outside and burned our Yule Log. We made some goals and intentions for the new year, and welcomed back the light into our lives. We sat bundled up in the snow watching the fire crackle, talking about our goals for the new year, and our accomplishments from the past year.

I had both Meko and Wicket on my lap the whole time. Snuggling them under my jacket as we watched the fire burn. And another thing magical happened. As we got up to go inside, I noticed sitting between Meko and Wicket was a little Mowgli Feather. As if he had been sitting on my lap with them. My heart melted into a puddle and I remembered, it's the small magical moments that make the biggest happiest memories.

Sometimes I forget that.
