Cabin Fever

I've been craving some change.
Ever since we found out we had to move
my mind has been in move mode.

I won't get to move for a week or so, but I can't get my mind off it.
I want to get rid of a lot of things.
I want to simplify.
I want to create my sacred space.

I am craving a simple life.
It's been a plan of mine for a long time, to narrow my possessions down.
To fit nicely in a little cabin as well of course as my Gypsy Vardo.
But, now is always a good time to start.

I may not own my cabin yet, but until then, I can live like I do.
These are some of my inspirations.

My ideal life is a simple but splendid life.

Waking up to the sun streaming into my windows.
Rolling over and kissing my love good morning.
Sneaking out of bed to make nice warm coffee sweetened with honey,
Letting the dogs out and listening to the birds sing.
Making homemade bread with lavender.
Collecting wild flowers and feathers.
Going inside to paint, deciding to bring the painting outside.
Picnics on handmade blankets.
Gardening in the evenings followed by bike rides or walks.

There is no reason I have to wait for it.
I don't need a cabin to start living my simple life.
And right now I don't need a love to wake up to.
Though it might be nice huh?
Someone to help me pull the weeds and build things.
Someone to make coffee with.
Someone who shares this cabin fever with me.
A simple life and a simple love.

  1. I built my cabin on 10 acres in the woods near the Canadian border in 2005 and it was life changing. It's got everything but cell, cable or internet service, but who needs any of that? We've got bear, deer, and moose for neighbors and a beautiful stream filled with native brook trout. I hope to retire there someday, but that's still a long ways off. If you dream it, you can make it happen.

  2. last year i got rid of my television and home computer, and this year i deleted my facebook and twitter accounts. at first it was really hard adjusting, but now i have so much free time to do other things -- and i connect with the people i love much deeper, because i have to take extra steps to reach them (no thoughtless happy birthday facebook messages anymore!) i guess what i'm trying to say, is that with just a little effort you can simplify your life in a really big way! i'm rooting for you!
