Love That Grows
I got Wicket a few months after my Mowgli passed away,
and it wasn't until just a few months ago that I realized how much I really love my Wickey.
Like, I am in love with this little puppy. Smitten really.
And then I remembered, that the same sort of thing happened with Mowgli.
I think that when a puppy is younger, you love them like a baby, and as they grow you start to love them for the sweet spirit and friend that they are.
You stop seeing them as a dog, or an animal, and you see their soul.
That might sound silly, but I think it's true.
And now that Charlie is with his new family, Wicket has been extremely lovey and playful with us.
He doesn't have Charlie to pal around with anymore, but he has his human family to play with. I think he is discovering how much he likes that.
Wicket will be a whole year old this April.
I will make him a doggie cake, and give him all sorts of toys and goodies.
I will spoil him and give him loves and kisses.
Because that's what you do when you love someone.

awhhh this post, wicket, and YOU are all ADORABLE<3
ReplyDeleteThanks Elisha!! I'll be sure to tell him that an equally adorable girl said this. :)
Deleteyou know rachael.. its not nice to talk about yourself so much like that ;) :P <33
DeleteHow cute! I am a dog person, myself, and I see them the same way. They have so much personality, it's hard not to think that there's a little person in there. After a bit, they stop being pets and turn into family. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally! I don't see him as a pet at all. :)
Deletesooo cute <3 and you're not silly at all! I adore dogs and have a little maltese called Snoopy. he's my baby, 7 months old and already so spoiled :))
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean. When I got my first puppy I loved her, but as I got to KNOW her, that's when the true love set in. When I got my second puppy I was hesitant with how my first would handle a new pup, and I hate to say there wasn't instant love 'cause I was wary of their relationship. Then as I got to know him I just fell in love. I don't know what I would do without my critters!
ReplyDeleteAw, so cute! They really do take up residence in your heart, don't they?! I'm living with a little chihuahua too. She belongs to my roomie but I love her as if she were my own.
ReplyDeleteWicket loves laying on my belly when I sit on the couch. I totally look grumpy in the picture though, but I really wasn't! haha
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that picture of Wicket chilling on your boyfriend while he's on the computer! It made me laugh really hard, haha.
ReplyDeleteI also have the same little sweater for my puppy. :)
<33 Ashlynn.

ReplyDeleteI love love my two dogs. One is 7, and the other just over a year. Your little baby is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAww he is so cute!! What kind of dog is he? My parents have two dachshunds and they are our babies. :) They aren't dogs, they're humans. lol. (They believe they really are humans, haha)
ReplyDeleteThanks! He is a chihuahua mix.. I'm not sure what he is mixed with!
DeleteI think you might have the cutest dog in the whole wide world;)
ReplyDeleteWhenever a pet dies it's so hard to imagine coming across another one that makes you love him/her as much, but somehow they always can. Thankfully! I couldn't imagine a life without pets.
I actually just started letting my cat in my bedroom at night. She is 8 and I hadn't done that before. I don't know why though, because I am loving this:)
I know what you mean. Our furbabies mean the world to us! We've often talked a out how we probably love them more than we really should. And boy are they super spoiled by all of our family!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I totally know what you mean... My Libby and me are kindred spirits! I always tell her that she's my soul mate. I also talk to her all the time about her waiting for me in heaven until I get there. I bet Mowgli is in heaven waiting for you and he'll be one of the first ones to greet you when you get there!!! I absolutely agree about you falling in love with them, not a dog but their personality! Plus they give you a love that is unreserved and unconditional, and my Libby is one of my best friends in the world!
