The Art Of Living

Deem every day of your life as a leaf in your history. Anonymous

Sometimes I get so scared that I'm not living enough.
I can't just sit on the couch and do nothing.
That thought scares me.
I hate wasting days doing nothing.
If I feel as if I haven't contributed, I get very sad and anxious.

I guess everyone has the option to live, or to live well.

Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
-Robert Fulgham

I've heard it said that it's later than we think.
Life is shorter than we realize, and I don't want to waste any of my time.

Today, I woke up, put on my sparkly special occasion shoes,
went out the door, and made big plans for the day.
I'm going to be taking photos of the house, working on custom paintings,
and I'm going to make a delicious meal tonight.
I'll even light the candles.
Because today is a special occasion.
It's today after all, and this day in history won't happen again.

"The masters in the art of living make little distinction between their work and their play, their labor and their leisure, their minds and their bodies, their information, their recreation, their love and their religion. They hardly know which is which, they simply pursue their vision of excellence at whatever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing."
James Albert Michener

  2. Something is in the air... My mister and I have been quite alive today and having lovely conversations about all of the things we're going to do next. We're off for a walk in the woods with our furbabies. Have a most amazing day :)

  3. Lately I too have been paying attention to the now in my life and it's coming rather naturally to me. It's interesting you wrote this post because I don't think it's just the two of us but I am sure that this phenomena of feeling ever so present is "in the air"!

  7. This blog post is so true. It's exactly how I've been feeling. I feel like I've been alive, but I haven't been living the last month. I've just kinda been floating. But now, I'm starting to treat every day as a special occasion. I'm wearing my special perfume every day now, because just being alive makes it a special day, and I like to feel special. I painted my toenails - noone sees them when I wear shoes and socks, but I know they're painted, and that makes me feel good. Just little things like that. And soon I'm going to tackle big things to make me feel like I'm really living! Including returning to university! Weehoo! :)

My friend wrote this as her status the other day which prompted a change in my attitude a bit "to live doesn't mean you're alive" - so true! :)
