Sunken Ghost Town

We explored a small ghost town this last weekend. It was established in the 1800's. It was a small mining community, but there was a huge flood that forced all the residents to abandon their homes.

I think I gave Brad a bit of a scare with my willingness to climb walls, in a dress, with no shoes.
It's better that way.

The whole area was filled with sage, one of my favorite smells in the world.
When I lived in California I had a Native American friend who taught me a lot about sage and it's qualities. He taught me how to dry it, and burn it to bless a house or a building.

A sunken house..
I almost went IN this house the night before...
It was dark and I had no idea it was went up to the rafters.

Utah sure is beautiful.

The town was especially spooky at night.

  1. those pictures are beautiful. i've always wanted to find ghost towns.

  2. Every time I drive through that canyon and see all the houses, I always think of my grandma, who used to say "where the hell is Thistle?!" when I would drive with her to her house in Mt. Pleasant. Then I'd always laugh and tell her "it's in the mud!".

  3. wow! what gorgeous photos - and I'm a little bit in awe of your shoe-less climbing skills. hahah

  4. This is craaaaaazy amazing. I want to go there.

  5. wow! what a fun adventure! it makes me want to go exploring. lovely photos!

  6. ooh awesome! i would be way too skittish to be there at night. i'm too sensitive to spiritual happenings. love that pic of you holding the sage looking down!

  7. Bethany, I think that's why I like going at night.. cause I'm really sensitive to spiritual happenings.. and they are always heightened at night. I love it .

  8. Wow, what wonderful pictures! There's something a bit eerie about it, but beautiful at the same time.

    a lovely blog xx

  9. you are braver than i! or maybe i just haven't developed my senses enough to enjoy it yet.. there is so much happening it's hard to hone in on one message/feeling at a time! plus they like to follow me home. i don't enjoy that at all, and sometimes i forget to ground myself before i leave to prevent that.

  10. oh wow, an actual ghost town! that's so cool, but the photos are just beyond wonderful! soul photography <3

  11. What fun! I've never been to a 'ghost town'
