Yesterday something wonderful happened.
I adopted this sweetie.
I remembered what the vet said about how another dog could help Wicket.. That got me thinking.. about how I grew up with lots of dogs, and how much I loved them. They were all so happy together, a big bunch of friends. I remembered Mowgli, how he had terrible separation anxiety when I was gone, thinking I wanted to get him a dog friend some day...I decided to wait until I found The Perfect Dog. I didn't want to get just any dog.. especially because it would affect my life, the dog's life AND Wicket. So I made a list of priorities. The dog had to be over a year old, neutered, house trained and up to date on all his shots. I wanted a Corgi in particular. I've always loved them. And I wanted to rescue one, either from a shelter or from a family that could no longer keep him. Well, a few days went by, and I casually looked at the local ads. I didn't expect to find anything for a while.
Yesterday, I saw that Charlie needed a new home. His owners were expecting a baby, and they didn't have time for him. They lived only minutes away from me, so we met at a park. I brought Wicket so he could meet his potential big brother. Wicket was scared at first.. he tucked his tail between his legs and acted scared. Charlie was sweet and playful. I decided to go home and think about it. I listed the pros and cons. I talked to Brad about it, and we decided it was a good idea. So we went back and played with him for a little while and brought him home.
We brought him back home to Wicket, who's tail started to wag.
They began to sniff and play with each other.
They are a cute little pair!
Charlie is a lot bigger than Wicket, except in the legs. Wicket's legs are about as long as Charlies!
Then I noticed something silly. Charlie went out and started chewing on some grass. Wicket followed him closely, and also started chewing on grass! Wicket is more of a stick chewer, I've never seen him chewing on grass. I thought it was pretty silly.
I'm so glad they get along so well. I'm glad Charlie is a big sweetie.
He loves his belly rubbed, he loves to be center of attention. He loves to lay his head on my computer, nudge his nose under my hand for pets, and eventually slide my computer off my lap.
I'm glad he has a home. I'm glad him and Wicket are good buds. We all love him lots.
Charlie is such a cutie!! And that's so great that they get along! I wish my dog and my mom's dog got on better cuz i'd love her to have a buddy :)
