Finding Peace Amongst Chaos

I have been given a huge trial.
I am extremely busy.
I am working nearly three jobs a day some times.
I teach art during the day.
I work at a flower shop in the evenings,
and at night and on weekends I work on my shops.

That's 3 jobs.

On top of that, I'm still in the process of moving.
I are hoping to be in our new house in 2 weeks at the most.

Then there is the dentist appointment which may lead to surgery..
The chalk art festival this Friday
parent teacher conference also this Friday
taking photos for my blog and outfit posts,
spending time with my pal Wicket... (Who is always my first priority!)

So, I've got this huge trial of being busier than all reason...
And some say, why don't you quit one job?
I just can't! I love working with flowers,
and it's really good to unwind after school with the flowers.
It just doesn't feel right to quit, at least not right now.

I am alright with working this much for now..
It's a huge trial, but trials also bring such huge gifts.
Other than the money I'm making, I am receiving a huge gift.
Finding peace amongst chaos.

This really isn't even me looking for silver lining.
I'm not stretching and searching for good things here.

I really am thankful for this.

I have less free time, but the free time I do have is spent very wisely.
In meditation, in thought, walking barefoot, reading books, reflecting.

And the free time I DON'T have.. like during my classes, or while grading papers,
I get to practice grounding myself. Being at peace in my heart while the world is chaotic around me.
Which of course helps calm the world around me too.

Because a peaceful heart creates a peaceful atmosphere.
And a chaotic heart creates a chaotic atmosphere.

Being at peace, brings us more peace.

  3. Rachel,
Can I ask what flower shop you work at? I'm looking for a florist for my upcoming wedding and was hoping to find someone in the Provo area (I remember saying you lived in the area, and saw your pictures of Provo canyon). Would you recommend the shop you work for or is there's others in the area that specialize in weddings you'd recommend? I would greatly appreciate your reference :)

  4. I have this problem. I go to school full time and am in a very hard program which requires constant study. I work full time as well. I generally wake up and go at 8am, and get home from work at 2am. It's a long haul. But, I decided over a year ago to bike everywhere. Even in the winter. It is my free time and I love it. It releases stress and focuses my mind on a more aesthetic view of what is around me. It relaxes me. I say, if you need time get your bike and take it everywhere. It takes more planning and can sometimes be difficult, but it is so so perfect.

“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -Ernest Hemingway

  5. Thank you for this, Rachael!
I am in the same predicament, having too many things to do that I love. But we're much better off than those with too many things to do that they don't love!
Nice colours in the photos too, btw :)
