If I Were A Tree

If I were a tree, 

I would be a sight to see.

With leaves that shake and shimmer,

from gold to silver, I would glimmer.

If  I were a tree, 

I would live by the stream,

We would share stories of old.

Friends through the warm, and the cold.

If I were a tree,

Seasons would change my leaves

From green to yellow to red.

And eventually my leaves would shed.

If I were a tree,

The wind would take my leaves.

But the wind I would forgive..

Because to the world I would give

 If I were a tree,

My roots would be deep.

but my branches high and free.

If I were a tree.
